What's Happening?
The Springfield-Greene County Library Foundation has been awarded a $280,000 donation from Larry and Tracy Lipscomb to establish a Memory Lab at the Library Center. This facility will enable patrons to digitize family materials such as photographs, slides,
documents, home movies, and audio tapes. Additionally, the lab will offer a space for families to record oral history interviews. Memory labs are becoming increasingly popular in library systems across the United States, providing educational opportunities about preservation and connecting families through genealogy. The lab will be named after Cathryn 'Kitty' Cox Lipscomb, a local historian passionate about area history. Construction is set to begin later this summer, with the lab expected to open to the public in early 2027.
