The Connecticut Office of Higher Education has introduced a new financial aid grant program designed to assist students at private career schools who are nearing the completion of their training but face financial difficulties. This initiative aims to help
students in high-demand fields such as HVAC, welding, electrical work, and medical assisting, who might otherwise be unable to graduate due to financial constraints. The program is funded through the state's Private Career School Student Benefit Account and will provide tuition assistance to students who have completed at least 50% of their program, are Connecticut residents, and demonstrate financial need. The grant is expected to support approximately 150 to 200 students in its first round, with total funding between $90,000 and $93,000. Individual awards can reach up to $5,000 and must be applied to remaining tuition costs after other financial aid is used.
