What's Happening?
Construction has commenced on Timbale Terrace, a 100% affordable housing project in East Harlem, New York City. This development, part of the East Harlem rezoning plan initiated a decade ago, will feature 341 apartments and a new theater and performing
arts center for Belongó, formerly known as the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance. The site, located at East 118th Street and Park Avenue, was previously a police department parking lot. The project is a collaboration between the Lantern Organization and Mega Development, selected in 2021, with City Council approval following in 2024. The apartments will cater to low- and very-low-income residents, with specific units reserved for formerly homeless individuals.
