What's Happening?
The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) has been awarded a $117,247.63 energy efficiency incentive from the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) EnergyRight® for Business & Industry Program, in collaboration with Memphis Light, Gas and Water
(MLGW). This funding acknowledges a significant LED lighting upgrade project implemented across Frederick W. Smith International Airport (MEM). Previously, the airport's terminal, parking facilities, cargo areas, and exterior spaces were illuminated by over 1,900 metal halide, compact fluorescent, and high-pressure sodium fixtures, which were costly to operate and maintain. Working with TVA EnergyRight’s technical experts, the airport transitioned to modern LED systems to enhance energy efficiency and operational benefits. The project is a key component of the airport's modernization strategy, aiming to improve the passenger experience, bolster safety, and reduce operational expenses.
