What's Happening?
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) have established the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation (JOET) to accelerate the development of an electrified transportation system. This initiative, funded by the Bipartisan
Infrastructure Law (BIL), aims to make electric vehicles (EVs) an accessible, convenient, equitable, reliable, and safe choice for all Americans. JOET coordinates activities across both departments, leveraging public and private sector expertise to advance transportation electrification, reduce emissions, and create new economic and workforce opportunities. The office supports investments in and deployment of a national EV charging network, including corridors, community charging, low- and no-emission transit buses, and electric school buses.
