Dan Sagalyn serves as the deputy senior producer for foreign affairs and defense at the PBS NewsHour. In this role, he is instrumental in overseeing and producing the program's coverage of international relations and military issues. Over two decades
at the NewsHour, Sagalyn has been responsible for booking and producing numerous exclusive interviews with foreign leaders, U.S. national security advisers, secretaries of defense and state, senior military officers, and members of Congress, among other key government officials. He joined the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer in May 1996 as a reporter, initially focusing on discussion segments concerning the Middle East, Asia, defense, terrorism, and intelligence. He was promoted to deputy senior producer in 2003. Before his tenure at the NewsHour, Sagalyn was a producer for 'America's Defense Monitor,' a weekly television series on defense and foreign policy broadcast nationally on PBS and cable television. He holds a Master's Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, specializing in international security policy, and a BA in history from Boston University.
