What's Happening?
Guilford County Animal Services has collaborated with 17-year-old Girl Scout Evelyn McKnight to establish two community pet pantries. These pantries aim to provide free pet food and supplies to residents who require assistance in caring for their pets.
McKnight, a high school senior, developed this project as part of her pursuit of the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. She partnered with Guilford County Animal Services, Social Services, and Public Health to create these resources. The initiative also involved local businesses and community organizations, with Diversified Fence Builders donating materials and construction, Budget Printing providing signage, and the Rotary Club of High Point, along with friends, neighbors, and sports teams, donating pet food and supplies to stock the pantries. The pet pantries are located at Guilford County Social Services in Greensboro and Guilford County Public Health in High Point.
