What's Happening?
The Racial Equity in Journalism (REJ) Fund, established in 2019 and housed at Borealis Philanthropy, is dedicated to supporting journalism in communities of color across the United States. The fund aims to address the funding gap in journalism, particularly
for local, independent news organizations serving Black, Indigenous, Latine, Asian, and Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) communities. It has awarded over $24 million in grants to various organizations, including Documented and The Atlanta Voice.
