Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc. (CSI) has announced a significant investment of over $79 million to acquire its fourth drydock, enhancing its ship repair and maintenance capabilities. This investment marks a major milestone for the oldest continuously operating family-owned shipyard in the United States. The new drydock, with a lifting capacity of approximately 25,000 tons, is expected to bolster CSI's ability to serve a diverse range of maritime clients. The project is slated for completion in the first half of 2028, continuing CSI's efforts to expand and modernize its facilities. Over the past decade, CSI has invested more than $150 million in its U.S. facilities to grow shipbuilding and sustainment capacity.
Why It's Important?

The investment also underscores the strategic importance of Virginia as a hub for shipbuilding and repair, supporting both commercial and government clients. This development aligns with national defense priorities and the commercial maritime industry's needs, ensuring that Virginia remains a premier location for these activities.
