What's Happening?
The American Express Leadership Academy, in collaboration with Common Purpose, is offering personal coaching to nonprofit leaders through its Resilient Changemakers model. This initiative is part of a broader
effort to provide leadership development opportunities to nonprofit executives. The Center for Creative Leadership also offers a six-week online course, Amplify: Heighten Your Impact, aimed at building leadership skills for nonprofit executives. Additionally, the Center for Non-Profit Coaching connects charity leaders with volunteer coaches, providing both one-on-one and team coaching settings. These programs are designed to support nonprofit leaders in enhancing their leadership capabilities and navigating the challenges of their roles.
Why It's Important?
Executive coaching is becoming increasingly vital for nonprofit leaders who face unique challenges in their roles. By providing access to coaching, these programs help leaders develop critical skills such as strategic thinking, communication, and self-awareness. This support is particularly important for leaders from historically marginalized backgrounds, who may face additional challenges in leadership positions. The availability of low-cost or free coaching resources ensures that nonprofit leaders can access the support they need without financial barriers. This investment in leadership development can lead to more effective nonprofit organizations, ultimately benefiting the communities they serve.
