What's Happening?
The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is set to launch a scholarship fund aimed at empowering Caribbean women pursuing careers in tourism. The initiative, titled 'From Her to Her: From Today’s Female Leaders to Tomorrow’s Tourism Stars,' will be unveiled
at the Caribbean Women in Tourism Leadership Dinner & Awards on June 1. The event, taking place at the InterContinental New York Times Square during Caribbean Week, will honor female leaders in the tourism sector. Proceeds from the event will fund the scholarship through the CTO Foundation. The program is supported by various partners, including Virgin Voyages and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.
Why It's Important?
This scholarship initiative is significant as it addresses gender equity in the tourism industry, a vital sector for the Caribbean economy. By supporting women in tourism, the CTO aims to foster leadership and innovation, ensuring the industry's sustainable growth. The program reflects a broader commitment to gender equality and leadership development, potentially inspiring similar initiatives in other regions. The involvement of major tourism stakeholders underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry.
