What's Happening?
The Village of Skokie has appointed Steven M. Elrod and his law firm, Elrod Friedman, as the new corporation counsel starting January 1. This decision follows a comprehensive selection process involving village staff, a retired judge, and local attorneys.
Elrod Friedman will replace the interim corporation counsel, Barbara Mangler, and will work alongside Skokie's in-house legal team.
Why It's Important?
The appointment of Elrod Friedman as Skokie's corporation counsel is significant for the village's legal operations. With expertise in municipal law, the firm is expected to provide robust legal support, potentially reducing the need for outside counsel. This change may impact Skokie's legal strategies, budget allocations, and overall governance, ensuring that the village's legal needs are met efficiently.
