What's Happening?
NASA's ESCAPADE mission has captured remarkable images of the Earth and Moon using its twin spacecraft. The images, taken on July 3, show a crescent Earth and Moon from a distance of 584,600 km and 186,100 km, respectively. The first image was captured in visible
light, while the second was taken in infrared wavelengths, highlighting the heat absorbed by Earth's oceans, land, and atmosphere. The ESCAPADE spacecraft, launched in November last year, are currently in a 'loiter' orbit around Lagrange point L2. They are set to fly by Earth in November to slingshot towards Mars, where they will study the interaction between solar wind and the Martian environment.
