Nike has unveiled a prototype footwear system, Project Amplify, designed to augment the movement of the lower leg and ankle. This system, developed in collaboration with robotics partner Dephy, features
a lightweight electric motor and an exoskeleton-like assembly that acts as a 'second set of calf muscles.' The aim is to enhance the running, jogging, and walking experience for everyday athletes. Over 400 athletes have tested the system, covering more than 2.4 million steps, equivalent to approximately 12,000 laps around Nike's test track. The system has shown promising results, with users reporting faster lap times and an easier experience when moving uphill.
