What's Happening?
Yad LaBanim, an organization supporting bereaved families of IDF soldiers, is expanding its services to North America. The initiative aims to provide emotional and social support to approximately 1,100 family members of fallen IDF soldiers living in the
U.S. The program, set to launch in the fall, will focus on extended retreat gatherings and regional workshops, differing from the local club model in Israel. The expansion is led by David Lubin, whose daughter, Rose, was killed in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem. The initiative is supported by Israel's Defense Ministry, Friends of the IDF, and local donors.
Why It's Important?
This expansion addresses the unique needs of bereaved families living far from Israel, offering them a community and support network. It highlights the importance of providing tailored support to diaspora communities, acknowledging their sacrifices and contributions. The initiative also strengthens ties between Israeli and American Jewish communities, fostering solidarity and mutual support. By addressing the emotional and social needs of these families, Yad LaBanim helps them cope with loss and maintain a connection to their heritage and homeland.
