What's Happening?
InsideAsia has introduced two new family-oriented itineraries in response to a 33% increase in family travel from Australia and New Zealand to South Korea in the first quarter of 2026. This surge is attributed to a growing interest in South Korea's vibrant
cities, outdoor adventures, and cultural experiences, partly fueled by the popularity of the Netflix series 'KPop Demon Hunters.' The new itineraries, 'South Korea Family Adventure' and 'Family Fun in Korea,' are designed to offer a mix of structured activities and flexibility, catering to families with children of various ages. The 'South Korea Family Adventure' targets families with teens and older children, offering activities like e-biking, K-pop dance lessons, and hiking. 'Family Fun in Korea' is adaptable for younger children and multi-generational groups, focusing on making the destination accessible and engaging for all ages.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of these itineraries highlights a shift in travel preferences, with families seeking destinations that offer a blend of urban and natural experiences. This trend could influence travel industry strategies, encouraging more companies to develop family-friendly packages that cater to diverse interests. The focus on South Korea also underscores the country's growing appeal as a tourist destination, potentially boosting its economy through increased tourism revenue. Travel agencies and tour operators stand to benefit from this trend by expanding their offerings to include more culturally immersive and flexible travel options.
