What's Happening?
The New Pass Fire, located about 30 miles northwest of Austin, Nevada, has grown to 17,714 acres with no containment. The fire, which started on July 26 due to lightning, is burning through grass, brush,
and dry timber in the Shoshone Mountain range. Firefighters are facing challenging conditions as the fire continues to spread south and southeast under hot, dry, and windy weather. Currently, 220 personnel are assigned to combat the blaze.
