Dialog Axiata, a leading telecommunications company in Sri Lanka, has announced the expansion of its 5G trial network across 15 districts in preparation for the upcoming 5G spectrum auction. The company has been
conducting 5G trials since 2018 and is now extending its network to include both urban and rural areas. This expansion comes as the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) prepares to allocate 5G spectrum, a process that has been anticipated since 2021. The auction, set to begin in early December, will see telcos bidding for 100 MHz of spectrum in the 3.5-GHz band and 200 MHz in the 27-GHz band. Dialog Axiata's efforts are part of a broader strategy to shape the digital future of Sri Lanka.
