What's Happening?
Telin, in collaboration with ITCO Niaga, is extending the Indonesia Cable Express II (ICE II) submarine cable system to East Malaysia. This expansion aims to improve digital connectivity in the region, providing scalable capacity to support cloud computing and digital services. The initiative is part of Telin's broader ICE program, which seeks to build multiple cable systems connecting Indonesia to various global regions by 2028.
Why It's Important?
The extension of the ICE II cable system is a strategic move to enhance digital infrastructure in Southeast Asia, particularly in East Malaysia. Improved connectivity is expected to stimulate economic growth, empower local businesses, and increase digital inclusivity. This development underscores the importance of regional integration in advancing the digital ecosystem and meeting the growing demand for digital services.
What's Next?
The ICE II system's expansion will continue with additional links planned in Sandakan, Kudat, and Kota Kinabalu. As the project progresses, it is expected to attract further investment opportunities and drive socio-economic growth in the region. Telin's commitment to advancing digital infrastructure will likely foster greater regional collaboration and integration.
