MBDA is advancing its Spear Glide air-launched strike weapon, focusing on navigation and targeting algorithms. The system is undergoing front-end and warhead testing, aiming for integration onto aircraft like the F-35 and Eurofighter Typhoon. Spear Glide is designed for high-rate production with minimal reliance on bespoke subsystems, offering a competitive alternative to existing precision glide bombs. MBDA is seeking a customer partner to further develop the system, which is expected to be ready for contract award in two to three years.
