What's Happening?
Babcock and Supacat have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on a bid for the British Army's Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) programme. This initiative aims to replace the current Land Rover fleet as part of the broader Land Mobility Programme
(LMP). The collaboration will leverage the General Logistics Vehicle (GLV) family, developed by Babcock, which is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC70 platform. This partnership builds on a longstanding relationship between the two companies, which recently delivered the Jackal 3 programme. The MoU allows both firms to utilize their complementary expertise and supports Babcock's commitment to engaging small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in defense programmes. The UK Ministry of Defence issued a Request for Information for the LMV platform in January 2025, seeking a common wheeled utility platform to modernize roles currently undertaken by Land Rover and Pinzgauer vehicles.
