Dayton Congressman Mike Turner has announced that Gerstner and Sons, a family-owned wooden chest manufacturer based in Dayton, will be involved in creating the cases for the 2026 Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest
civilian honor in the United States, awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the country or the world. Gerstner and Sons, which has been operating in the Dayton area for 120 years, will be responsible for crafting the wood cases as part of a larger project led by the American Chest Company, the main contractor. Kim Brown, CP of Sales and Marketing at Gerstner and Sons, whose great-grandfather founded the business in 1906, expressed the honor of this involvement. Two other companies are also participating in the project.
