What's Happening?
Auburn University is set to introduce new graduate and certificate programs in biotechnology and biomedical engineering. These programs, approved by the state, will be managed by the department of chemical engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Advisory
Committee. The initiative includes a doctoral degree, thesis and non-thesis master’s degrees, and two graduate certificates. The programs aim to leverage Auburn's expertise in advanced biomedical technologies and biotechnology to meet the growing demand for skilled engineers in Alabama's rapidly expanding biotechnology and biomanufacturing sectors. According to Mario Eden, PhD, dean of engineering, these offerings will prepare graduates with the technical skills and hands-on experience required by industry partners, thereby enhancing the college's capacity to support the state's innovation economy.
