Boeing has won two U.S. Army contracts valued at $461 million to produce nine CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters. These contracts, known as Lots 4 and 5, increase the total number of Block II Chinooks
under contract to 18. The CH-47F Block II is a modernized version of the Chinook helicopter, featuring a new drivetrain, stronger airframe, and improved fuel system, allowing it to carry approximately 4,000 pounds more and fly farther on a single load. The Army's decision to procure Block II helicopters aligns with its modernization plans and aims to equip two Combat Aviation Brigades for future large-scale combat operations.
Why It's Important?
The contract underscores Boeing's role in supporting the U.S. Army's modernization efforts and enhancing its heavy-lift capabilities.
