What's Happening?
The Grain Farmers of Ontario have opened applications for the 2026 Legacy Scholarship, aimed at supporting students pursuing post-secondary education related to the grain and agri-food industry. This scholarship, now in its fifth year, seeks to develop
future leaders in fields such as science, technology, business communications, and public policy. Up to ten scholarships, each valued at $5,000, will be awarded, with five reserved for students in non-agriculture specific fields. Eligible applicants must be permanent Ontario residents enrolled in full-time post-secondary programs. The scholarship encourages a diverse range of students to contribute to the future of agriculture.
Why It's Important?
The Legacy Scholarship represents a significant investment in the future of agriculture by fostering education and leadership among young people. By supporting students in both agriculture and non-agriculture fields, the program acknowledges the diverse skill sets required to advance the industry. This initiative not only aids in the personal development of students but also ensures a steady influx of knowledgeable professionals into the agricultural sector, which is crucial for innovation and sustainability. The scholarship's inclusive approach broadens the scope of potential contributions to the industry, promoting a holistic development of the agricultural ecosystem.
