Three Colgate University juniors, Elyana Belete, Meghan Brennan, and Julia Hirt, spent their summer in Washington D.C., gaining valuable professional experience. Meghan Brennan worked directly on Capitol Hill with U.S. Representative Nikki Budzinski,
who represents Illinois’s 13th congressional district. Brennan's responsibilities included conducting Capitol tours, drafting memos, and engaging in community outreach. Meanwhile, Elyana Belete participated in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at Howard University, shadowing medical professionals, and Julia Hirt undertook an internship related to compliance, exploring applications for her environmental economics and political science studies.
