Starlink, a satellite internet service provider owned by SpaceX, has ceased its operations in Uganda following directives from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC). The shutdown comes as Uganda approaches its general elections on January 15, 2026,

According to a letter from Starlink's Director for Market Access, Ben MacWilliams, the company is not authorized to operate in Uganda due to the absence of a local license.
