What's Happening?
The U.S. Air Force is actively seeking a new air defense missile system to protect its installations from cruise missiles and drones. This initiative comes in response to recent Iranian attacks on U.S. and allied
military bases in the Middle East, which have resulted in significant damage, including the destruction of a valuable E-3 Sentry AWACS and damage to several KC-135 tankers. The Air Force has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to identify industry partners capable of providing a Ground-Based Launcher solution. The system must be capable of intercepting a wide range of threats, from small drones to large UAVs. The RFI outlines the need for a self-contained, easily transportable system with integrated sensing capabilities and a laser illuminator for fire control.
