What's Happening?
A UK government-backed initiative, known as the Resilience programme, has been launched to train skilled workers in medicines manufacturing using virtual reality and mixed reality technologies. Since its
inception 18 months ago, approximately 1,200 individuals have participated in training sessions, with an additional 13,500 students engaged in outreach events. The programme aims to address the declining number of workers in the UK medicines manufacturing sector, which threatens the country's position in the global life sciences industry. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership to create 26,500 new jobs by 2033, supported by 160 new investments and the adoption of digital and net-zero technologies.
