The IO State of Information Security Report, based on a survey of 3,000 cybersecurity and information security managers in the UK and US, highlights the growing risks associated with shadow AI and deepfake technologies. The report indicates that 20% of organizations have encountered deepfake or cloning incidents, while 28% anticipate deepfake impersonation in virtual meetings as a rising threat. Misinformation and disinformation generated by AI are considered top emerging threats by 42% of security professionals, with generative AI-driven phishing concerning 38%. Additionally, shadow AI misuse, where employees use GenAI tools without permission, was reported by 37% of respondents.
