The Ohio legislature has allocated $10 million in the state operating budget to enhance school bus safety across the state. This funding, part of the Ohio School Bus Safety Grant Program, will be distributed to 371 schools, districts, and county boards
of developmental disabilities. The grants will allow schools to upgrade their bus fleets with advanced safety equipment, such as new buses or safety technology for existing buses. In Richland County alone, seven school districts have received a total of over $126,420 in grants to improve their transportation safety measures.
