What's Happening?
Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) is preparing for the commissioning of the 500MW Miri Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant by December 2027. To ensure operational readiness, PETROS has trained 76 Sarawakian operations and maintenance technicians
through on-the-job training (OJT) with regional power industry partners. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with Sarawak Energy Berhad, Malakoff Power Berhad, and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Indonesia Power, aims to build long-term local expertise for the upcoming power facility. PETROS Vice President for Capital Projects, Kidd Enau, emphasized the importance of this development in meeting the growing energy demand driven by new and emerging industries. The training equips the workforce with skills for safe and efficient plant operations, contributing to Sarawak's sustainable progress.

These programs are designed to further enhance the technical skills of the workforce, ensuring readiness for the Miri CCGT commissioning. As the commissioning date approaches, PETROS is expected to maintain its strategic partnerships and investment in human capital, fostering a skilled workforce capable of supporting Sarawak's energy infrastructure and economic growth.
