What's Happening?
Baykar Technologies, a Turkish company, announced that its Bayraktar Akinci unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) successfully used Roketsan's Eren multi-purpose munition to intercept an aerial target. This marks the first instance of an armed UAV conducting
an air-to-air interception using the Eren missile. The Eren, unveiled at the IDEF show in Istanbul in July 2025, is a high-speed loitering munition capable of being launched from various platforms. It features a small-turbojet engine, providing a 100 km range and 15-minute endurance, and an imaging infrared seeker for autonomous target engagement. The successful test was conducted at Baykar's Çorlu facility, where the Akinci UAV launched the Eren missile, capturing the impact over water. This development follows a previous announcement by Baykar in November 2025, where another UAV prototype used a radar-guided missile for a similar purpose.
