The former USCG Cutter Decisive, a vessel with a storied 55-year service history in the U.S. Coast Guard, has embarked on a significant journey to join the Sri Lankan Navy. Departing from Baltimore, Maryland, on February 21, the cutter is set to cover
approximately 14,775 nautical miles over 77 days, marking the longest voyage for the Sri Lankan Navy and its first transit of the Panama Canal. The transfer of the cutter was facilitated under the United States' Excess Defense Articles program, enhancing Sri Lanka's naval capabilities. The Decisive, now under the pennant number P 628, will bolster Sri Lanka's maritime surveillance, counter-narcotics, and anti-smuggling operations, as well as support search and rescue missions. The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka highlighted the donation as a testament to the strong bilateral relationship between the two nations.
