What's Happening?
WSSC Water has secured unanimous approval from the Prince George’s and Montgomery County councils for its $1.9 billion fiscal year 2027 budget. This budget focuses on significant infrastructure upgrades and customer assistance programs, impacting 1.9 million
residents in Maryland. The budget allocates $1.2 billion for operations and $770.3 million for capital improvements. Key investments include $320.4 million for upgrading aging water and sewer infrastructure, $34 million for replacing customer-owned lead service lines, and $16.3 million for clean energy projects aimed at enhancing operational resilience and supporting climate goals. Additionally, $12.8 million is designated for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure smart meter program.
