Sonardyne International has launched the BlueComm 200, a high-speed underwater optical communications modem designed for AUVs, ROVs, and USVs. This system uses LED-based optical transmission and photomultiplier
tube detection to achieve data rates between 2.5 and 10 Mbps at distances up to 150 meters. It enables real-time video streaming, control, and data exchange, optimized for low-light or deep-water conditions. BlueComm 200 offers transfer speeds thousands of times faster than traditional acoustic systems, maintaining reliable performance to depths of 4,000 meters. Available in two configurations, it is ideal for operations requiring high bandwidth in dark or deep environments.
