What's Happening?
The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) is actively engaged in scanning for and developing emerging energy-efficient technologies across various sectors. A key initiative involves locating new field test sites to study the integration of Luminaire
Level Lighting Controls (LLLC) with HVAC control systems in small commercial buildings that lack central building automation. These field studies are designed to refine savings estimates and develop LLLC as a load flexibility resource. Concurrently, system modeling will be conducted to analyze the technical potential of this emerging technology. NEEA is also collaborating with partners on the Hot Water Innovation Prize, exploring demonstrations and market development opportunities, which recently saw Midea win for expanding access to efficient water heating. Additionally, NEEA continues research on digital display technology, focusing on commercial displays and monitors, and conducting field studies on integrated dual-fuel residential water heaters and residential tri-mode heat pumps.
