What's Happening?
The London Internet Exchange (LINX) has announced a cooperative agreement with Asteroid, an internet exchange incubator, to take over its interconnection operations in Kenya. This transition will involve moving customer networks from Asteroid's Mombasa and Nairobi interconnection points to LINX's internet exchange points (IXPs) in these cities. The transition is set to be completed by the end of the year, with technical support from both companies to ensure a seamless process. Asteroid's customers will benefit from expanded network capabilities, gaining access to new peers both locally and globally, including LINX locations in the UK, US, and soon Ghana through a partnership with Digital Realty. This move follows Asteroid's establishment of its Kenyan interconnection points in 2020, which significantly enhanced interconnectivity in the region.
