What's Happening?
DeepOcean has successfully completed the installation and testing of inter-array cables at the Nordseecluster A offshore wind farm in Germany. The project involved the installation of 48 inter-array cables, which began in January 2026 and concluded in April.
DeepOcean utilized a fleet of four vessels for the operation, including the Olympic Ares and M/S Volantis. The Nordseecluster A is part of a larger 1.6 GW project and will feature 44 Vestas V236-15.0 MW wind turbines, with a total capacity of 660 MW. The wind farm is a joint venture between RWE and Norges Bank Investment Management.
Why It's Important?
The completion of cable installation at Nordseecluster A marks a significant milestone in the development of renewable energy infrastructure in Europe. This project contributes to the transition towards sustainable energy sources, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The successful execution by DeepOcean demonstrates the company's capability in delivering complex offshore projects, which is crucial for the growth of the offshore wind industry. The project also highlights the collaboration between major energy companies and financial institutions in advancing renewable energy initiatives.
