Thomas J. Henry, a philanthropist and attorney, has donated $1 million to SER of Puerto Rico, aiding in the expansion of specialized medical and rehabilitation services as the organization celebrates its 75th anniversary. This donation is part of Henry's
global initiative to improve healthcare access and community development. The funds will help recruit specialized physicians in fields such as neurology and rehabilitation, significantly enhancing healthcare services for children and adults in Puerto Rico. The donation has already contributed to a 15.5% increase in services provided by SER, including a 26.8% rise in medical evaluations and a 13.3% increase in therapeutic services.
Why It's Important?
This significant donation underscores the critical role of philanthropy in enhancing healthcare infrastructure, particularly in regions with limited access to specialized medical services. By supporting SER of Puerto Rico, Thomas J. Henry is helping to address healthcare disparities and improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions. The expansion of services not only benefits the immediate recipients but also strengthens the overall healthcare system in Puerto Rico, potentially serving as a model for similar initiatives in other underserved areas.
