Home Bargains, a variety store retailer, has reached a significant milestone in the expansion of its automated distribution centre at Omega. The facility is now servicing 200 UK stores, with plans to increase operations in the coming weeks. The expansion will pause briefly to focus on peak trade, resuming in January 2026, with the goal of serving 312 stores by the end of that month. The Omega site currently handles over 25,000 pallets of stock weekly, picking and dispatching nearly 2 million cases, equating to over 50,000 cages of stock, and over 1,000 store deliveries weekly. More than 60% of all cases picked are achieved through the fully automated area of the distribution centre. Additionally, Home Bargains is progressing on its new Doncaster distribution centre, set to open in summer 2028, which will add capacity for 300 more stores.
