Jane Hedengren, a freshman at Brigham Young University (BYU), secured first place at the NCAA Mountain Regional cross-country meet in Salt Lake City. Hedengren completed the 6,000-meter course in 19:06.6, finishing nearly 42 seconds ahead of the runner-up,
Pamela Kosgei. Her performance helped BYU's women's team achieve second place overall, narrowly trailing New Mexico. Hedengren's victory is part of her impressive collegiate debut season, where she has already set records and led her team to championships.
