Fletcher Technical Community College has been selected as one of eighteen new schools to participate in the eighth year of the Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI). This program, supported by a $75,000 grant, aims to enhance workforce training in fields
such as pipefitting by providing tuition assistance, safety gear, tool kits, and career development opportunities. The initiative, launched by the non-profit All Within My Hands (AWMH) created by Metallica, focuses on supporting trades like welding, plumbing, and electrical work, while also expanding into new fields such as healthcare and optical systems technology. The program has grown significantly, now including 93 colleges in the U.S. and plans to expand to the UK. Dr. Kristine Strickland, Chancellor of Fletcher Technical Community College, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to strengthen industry partnerships and prepare a skilled workforce for the region.
