Ellerth Ullevig Overboe, a distinguished educator and musician, passed away on December 10, 2025. Born on October 15, 1926, Overboe had a long and impactful career in education, teaching physics for 35 years across Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, and England.
He was a recipient of a Fulbright Teaching Scholarship in 1960-1961, which took him to Birmingham, England. Overboe was also deeply involved in the Masonic community, becoming a 32-degree Mason and a member of the Medina Shrine of Chicago. After retiring from teaching in 1984, he became active in the Piano Technicians Guild, eventually serving as president of the local chapter. Overboe was also a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers and the Fulbright Association. His contributions to both education and music were significant, and he remained active in the senior North Shore New Horizon Band until his passing.
