What's Happening?
ERC System, a German advanced air mobility startup, has launched the Victor U250 cargo drone, designed for military resupply and critical logistics missions. The drone was presented at the ILA Berlin Air Show and is positioned to fill a logistics gap
between small cargo drones and conventional helicopters. The Victor U250 can transport 250 kg of payload over 300 km at a cruise speed of 250 km/hr. It features a hybrid-electric design with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, and is sized to fit inside a standard 20-ft ISO shipping container. ERC plans to begin deliveries in 2028, with prototypes expected to fly in 2026.

What's Next?
ERC plans to conduct flight tests for the Victor prototype in the second half of 2026, followed by additional prototypes in 2027. The company aims to certify the drone through Europe's Specific Operations Risk Assessment framework, leveraging experience from its Romeo demonstrator. ERC is evaluating locations for a final assembly facility in Germany and intends to scale production to 250 aircraft annually by 2032. The successful deployment of Victor could pave the way for ERC's larger Charlie aircraft, designed for inter-hospital patient transport.
