What's Happening?
The Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS) has announced the election of new members to its Board of Directors and Advisory Council. The announcement, made by HRTS Board of Directors President Tim
McNeal, Chairperson David Madden, and CEO Melissa Grego, includes 11 new directors and 19 returning directors. Additionally, the HRTS Foundation has introduced the HRTS Legacy Scholarship, aimed at assisting mid- and early-career members with membership dues and supporting students affected by layoffs, natural disasters, or financial constraints. The scholarship is expected to support up to 300 members and is funded by personal donations from HRTS board and council members.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the HRTS Legacy Scholarship highlights the organization's commitment to fostering inclusivity and support within the entertainment industry. By providing financial assistance to underrepresented and financially constrained individuals, HRTS is addressing the challenges faced by many in the industry, particularly in the wake of economic disruptions and natural disasters. This initiative not only aids individual members but also strengthens the industry's talent pool by ensuring diverse voices and perspectives are supported and retained.
What's Next?
Applications for the HRTS Legacy Scholarship are now open, and the organization will likely see a significant number of applicants given the current economic climate. The new board members will begin their three-year terms in November 2025, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise to the organization. As these leaders take on their roles, they are expected to continue shaping policies and initiatives that promote a healthy, inclusive, and equitable entertainment industry.
