DaMareo Cooper, coexecutive director at the Center for Popular Democracy, is recognized for his extensive work in racial justice and electoral campaigning. Based in Ohio, Cooper has a history of grassroots
organizing at various levels, including local, state, and national. Previously, he served as the national organizing director of BlackPAC, a political action committee focused on mobilizing Black voters. During his tenure, Cooper played a pivotal role in contacting over six million Black voters during the 2020 presidential election and the Georgia Senate run-off election. His career also includes leadership roles at the Ohio Organizing Collaborative and Stand Up for Ohio, where he focused on empowering communities and advocating for social justice.
