What's Happening?
The MARS Awards are now accepting applications for the 2026 program, aimed at strengthening scientific research across Africa. The initiative focuses on women's health and reproductive care, providing a platform for early-career scientists to present
research addressing health challenges on the continent. The awards aim to build Africa's research capacity by encouraging emerging scientists to present innovative studies. Participants will have the opportunity to present their research at the Merck Foundation Africa Research Summit, engage with leading scientists and policymakers, and expand their professional networks.
Why It's Important?
The MARS Awards play a crucial role in promoting scientific research and innovation in Africa, particularly in the fields of women's health and reproductive care. By providing exposure to experts and fostering collaboration, the program helps build a robust scientific community in Africa. This initiative supports the development of young researchers, contributing to long-term scientific progress and healthcare improvements across the continent. It also highlights the importance of addressing health challenges specific to African communities.
What's Next?
Eligible applicants, including PhD students, young investigators, and medical doctors in postgraduate programs, are encouraged to submit abstracts by June 30, 2026.
