What's Happening?
A fundraiser event for Parkerville Children and Youth Care, supported by Gina Rinehart and her companies, successfully raised over $400,000. The event, held at Fraser's, aimed to gather funds for the construction
of Parkerville Grove School in the Perth Hills. This school is intended for children who have experienced trauma and find mainstream schooling challenging. Despite the rain, the gala, themed 'There's No Place Like Home' inspired by the Wizard of Oz, saw significant participation. Kim Brooklyn from Parkerville expressed gratitude, highlighting the thriving spirit of giving in Western Australia and its impact on young people in need.
Why It's Important?
The fundraiser's success underscores the importance of community support in addressing educational needs for children affected by trauma. The funds raised will contribute to building a specialized school, providing a safe and supportive environment for these children. This initiative reflects a broader societal commitment to inclusivity and the well-being of vulnerable youth. By investing in such projects, stakeholders demonstrate a dedication to creating opportunities for children who might otherwise be marginalized, fostering a sense of belonging and hope.
