What's Happening?
In December 2025, the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) visited Uzbekistan to strengthen ties and promote sustainable agriculture, efficient water and land management, and climate resilience
in Central Asia. The visit included meetings with Uzbek government officials and academic partners to discuss ongoing projects and future collaboration. ICBA's efforts in Uzbekistan focus on climate-smart agriculture and integrated water management, with plans for a spirulina cultivation laboratory in Tashkent to support research and development in agriculture-aquaculture systems.
Why It's Important?
The collaboration between ICBA and Uzbekistan is crucial for addressing the challenges of climate change and resource management in Central Asia. By promoting sustainable agricultural practices and innovation, the partnership aims to enhance food security and resilience in the region. The focus on climate-smart agriculture and integrated water management aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and ensure sustainable development. The initiative also highlights the importance of international cooperation in addressing environmental challenges and supporting rural development.
